An entry for Okami [link] Contest. I done this artwork using Sumi-e brush which was a very fascinating colouring technique. I fell in love with it in an instant. The artwork shows Amaterasu is going to start a duel with fire beast (I wanna make it look like a hell hound but too much modification changed the whole of it).

Medium: Digital sumi-e
Software: Painter IX
Hours to finish: 8h (in 2 days)
Tools: Wacom
While listening to: Avril Lavigne - Hot (my fave!!!)

That's funny. I've never played Okami, so I thought "Amaterasu" referenced the Mangyenko black fire technique.

How wrong I was!

a step by step of this would be of amazing help for those Painter users around DA. I love the texture that sumi-e gives to the painting.

Not possible, I didn't save those steps...I finished it on the spot.

I used a combination of digital brushes to make the sumi-e looked more believable.

Well, at least remember it the nex time you go into sumi-e on Painter. We could use some nice tutorial on the subject :P

Everytime I save my work I just press the ctrl-s keys, saving it in jpej all the way to finish is hard for me....sometimes it killed my enjoyment of colouring. I just do it on some specific artworks.
